Hello! My name is SuJin Shin.
I am from Lawrence, Kansas, but I am originally from Seoul, South Korea.
Here I am in Shanghai, posting my first blog on Weebly.
Allow me to introduce myself, I am a Marketing major, studying at the University of Kansas. I will be a senior in the fall of this year, and I am planning to graduate next spring in May 2016. Wow, time really does fly by! How am I already a senior??
I am currently in Shanghai, interning at Franck Bistrot. I accepted this internship because I believe it would provide me a real-world experience about what Marketers do in their career. I also wanted an international view of the business world, so I chose an internship that would allow me to leave Kansas, as well as my comfort zone. I hold the position as a Marketing Assistant, which means that I am responsible for several tasks. I will be working on Brand Marketing to establish existing brands, but also developing new brands. I will also keep track of Customer Relationship Management, Social Media, and Press Relation through media letter edition support, online reviews, blog listing follow-up, press kit edition support, press editors meeting and emailing. I will be sharing these with the team, bloggers, and editors. These are my main tasks, but not limited to just those.
I will be able to contribute to my future career by providing valuable international insights since I will have an idea of what it would be like to work in a foreign environment. After graduation, I hope to be working for a food or beverage company, such as Pepsi or Hershey, either in brand management or marketing research where I can work on new product ideas, packaging decisions, pricing, analyzing data on products and sales, designing and conducting surveys and interviews, or preparing forecasts. It is very hard for me to narrow down my choices to just one area in Marketing. However, the internship will guide me in narrowing down my choices as I experience what Marketers do, and as a result allowing me to learn which area of Marketing suits me best.
